Chernobyl Children International would like to congratulate Cirán O'Connell. Ciarán is a 16 year old 5th Year student in Pobail Scoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare, Co Kerry, Ireland. His wonderful short story 'The Chernobyl Tree' has just been awarded 3rd Prize at Listowel Writers Week Festival. Congratulations Ciarán! His story is attached and well worth a read. Ciarán hauntingly yet beautifully captures the emptiness and destruction of life as a result of the 1986 Chernobyl Disaster...

Chernobyl Children International would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Nicola, Benny & Cliona at The Bodega Cork for organizing ‘Spring Style in the City’ which took place on Friday 26 April. The fundraiser was a fantastic day with food, fashion and fun. Thank you for thinking of the charity. Friday 26 April marks the 27th Anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. We honour the memory of all those who have suffered the devastating impact of the disaster on health, the environment and more particularly its affect on children.

Plans are underway for the 2013 Dublin to Wexford Cycle which takes place on Saturday 28 September, from Pottery Road Dublin to Wexford town.

The Chernobyl Cycle Cork to Kilkenny takes place again this year on Sat 01 and Sun 02 June. The annual cycle, is in memory of Mary Slattery and all proceeds go to Chernobyl Kilkenny Outreach Group.

Orest Stelmach, the author of The Boy From Reactor 4, has teamed up with Chernobyl Children International and decided to donate 10% of the proceeds of the sale of his book to the charity. The book is available to buy on Amazon. We are extremely grateful for Orest's support!

Áine's Chocolates and Cavan Box have come on board with Chernobyl Children International to help raise vital funds for our Child Cardiac Surgery Programme.

A story on a recent edition of BBC's Newsnight and on the BBC website outlines the state of Russia's institutions and highlights the considerable issues surrounding getting thousands of children out of Russian orphanages and into families.
