A hugely successful cardiac mission took place in Kharkiv, Ukraine in November 2012. A dedicated international volunteer team made up of surgeons, doctors and cardiac specialists went on a 2 week mission to the region to undertake more life-saving surgeries and operations on children on critical waiting lists.

The target number of surgeries undertaken per mission is upwards to 30-40. The teams while there also train and upskill local surgeons and surgical personnel so that they can continue to perform surgeries, long after the volunteers have left.
Chernobyl Children International is grateful to the individual private donors, corporate supporters and many others who continue to support these missions. Without their support no of this life-saving work would be possible. CCI is aiming to roll out 6 new child cardiac missions throughout 2013.
