On behalf of Chernobyl Children International’s Board of Directors, it is with profound, deep sadness that we share the news of the death of CCI team member, Alexei Panaskov, following a short but bravely fought illness.

A loyal and dedicated member of the team, Alexei was more than a colleague; he was a beloved friend, a loving husband to CCI’s Belarus Manager, Tanya, and adoring father to Sasha and Matveic.  Alexei’s untimely death will touch the lives of the many people who knew and loved him, including the children and families who he helped to support and care for.

Alexei was a strong backbone of CCI’s operations in Belarus. Amongst other remarkable contributions, Alexei helped deliver millions of euro worth of humanitarian aid and programmes over the past 2 decades, including being a life-line for so many during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tanya, Sasha and Matveic and their wide circle of family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time of great loss.

Alexei’s legacy will be one of love, compassion and hope.
